Introduction of Department

The Department of Forensic Science at T.S. Misra College of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, T.S. Mishra University, was established in the academic session 2025–26 with the vision of developing skilled forensic professionals equipped to meet the growing demands of modern criminal investigation and justice systems. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, namely B.Sc. Forensic Science and M.Sc. Forensic Science, designed to provide students with a strong foundation in scientific principles, investigative techniques, and practical forensic applications.

The department is equipped with fully operational laboratory infrastructure that supports hands-on training in various domains of forensic science, including crime scene investigation, forensic biology, chemistry, toxicology, questioned documents, fingerprints, ballistics, and digital forensics. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, students are trained to apply scientific methodologies for the examination, analysis, and interpretation of evidence in criminal and civil investigations.

Guided by experienced and dedicated faculty members, the department emphasizes academic excellence, research, innovation, and professional ethics. With a curriculum aligned to contemporary forensic advancements and industry requirements, the department aims to nurture competent forensic scientists, researchers, and academicians capable of contributing effectively to law enforcement agencies, forensic laboratories, healthcare sectors, and the criminal justice system.

Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science (B.Sc. FS)
03-years program 100 A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science (B.Sc. FS) program should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent conducted by Boards/Councils established by State Government/Central Government with minimum 40% in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) / Mathematics.
05% relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates. Also, the candidate should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Master of Science in Forensic Science (M.Sc. FS)
2 years 40 A candidate seeking admission to the Master of Science in Forensic Science (M.Sc. FS) program should have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Science of a minimum three-year duration (10+2+3 or equivalent) from a university or institution recognized by the UGC, AIU, or any statutory body approved by the Government of India.

The degree should be in any of the following disciplines or their equivalent: B.Sc. Forensic Science / Physics / Chemistry / Zoology / Botany / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Genetics / Anthropology / Environmental Science / Medical Sciences / Allied & Healthcare Sciences / any relevant Life Science or Physical Science stream.

A minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA is required. A relaxation of 5% (i.e., 45%) is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PWD candidates as per UGC and Government of India norms.

The candidate should have completed 20 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no maximum age limit for admission.

LAB Facilities

Facility Description
Crime Scene Investigation Lab Equipped for practical training in crime scene examination, evidence recognition, collection, preservation, photography, sketching, fingerprint development, bloodstain analysis, and reconstruction of simulated crime scenes to provide real-time investigative exposure.
Physical Evidence Lab (Dry Lab) Designed for the examination and analysis of dry physical evidence such as fingerprints, questioned documents, tool marks, firearms, glass, paint, soil, fibers, footprints, and impression evidence using modern forensic techniques and comparative analysis methods.
Forensic Science Lab (Wet Lab) Advanced laboratory facility for biological and chemical forensic analysis including serology, toxicology, DNA analysis, body fluid examination, drug analysis, and chemical identification with hands-on training in analytical and instrumental techniques.

Associate Professor & Head,
Department of Forensic Science

Dr. Ankit Singh is a distinguished forensic science academician with over nine years of teaching, research, and field experience. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Science, along with holding key administrative roles including Vice-Principal of the School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, organising secretary of the Socio-Cultural Committee and member of Central Research Committee of the university.

His areas of expertise include Digital & Cyber Forensics, Questioned Document Examination, Crime Scene Management, Forensic Biology, and Fingerprint Analysis. He is committed to delivering research-driven, application-oriented education, fostering analytical thinking and practical skills among students.

He has contributed extensively to law enforcement training as an invited expert at Central Detective Training Institute, Ghaziabad. His research includes publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and several filed patents. He is actively involved in academic governance, curriculum development, and faculty development programs.

Assistant Professor,
Department of Forensic Science

Mr. Amit Yadav is a dedicated forensic science professional specializing in Digital Forensics with interests in Fingerprint Examination, Crime Scene Investigation, and Forensic Ballistics. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at T.S. Mishra University.

He holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Science and has qualified UGC-NET (Forensic Science) in 2024. His technical expertise includes FTK Imager, Autopsy, OS Forensics, and Cellebrite UFED.

He has contributed to research through published book chapters and conference work focusing on cyber threats and national security. He has also gained practical exposure through internships at Regional Forensic Science Laboratory and India Child Protection Fund.

He actively participates in academic and technical events and serves as a technical evaluator and committee member in national-level programs.
