The Department of Optometry is dedicated to excellence in education, clinical training, and research in the field of vision science and eye healthcare. As an integral branch of allied health sciences, Optometry plays a crucial role in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of visual and ocular disorders, contributing significantly to quality eye care services and community health.

Bachelor of Optometry
05-years program (04+01 year of compulsory internship / Laboratory rotation) 40 A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelor of Optometry (B.OPTOM) program should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent conducted by Boards/Councils established by State Government/Central Government with minimum 50% in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) / Mathematics.
05% relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates. Also, the candidate should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Diploma in Optometry
2 years 60 A candidate seeking admission to the Diploma in Optometry program should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent conducted by Boards/Councils established by State Government/Central Government with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics (PCB/PCM) and English as subjects.
A minimum of 45% marks in Intermediate examinations (from UP Board or any other recognized board) is required.
Also, the candidate should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no maximum age limit for admission.

Refraction Unit Equipped with advanced refraction instruments for comprehensive eye examination, vision assessment, and accurate prescription of corrective lenses.
Contact Lens Lab Provides practical training in contact lens fitting, evaluation, care, and management of different types of contact lenses.
Orthoptics Lab Facilitates diagnosis and management of binocular vision disorders, squint, and ocular motility abnormalities through specialized equipment and training.
Low Vision Lab Designed to assess and rehabilitate patients with visual impairment using low vision aids and assistive technologies.

Department of Optometry

Ms. Sehba Naqvi is a highly accomplished Optometrist and Gold Medalist with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Optometry. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Optometry at T.S. Mishra University, she completed her clinical internship at CL Gupta Eye Institute, acquiring extensive experience in comprehensive eye examinations, patient management, and advanced clinical care.

She possesses specialized expertise in Binocular Vision, Vision Therapy, and Contact Lens practice, with a strong commitment to evidence-based eye care. She has also contributed to the field of research through publications in Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and professional advancement.

Mr. Nitin Ojha
Mr. Nitin Ojha
Assistant Professor,
Department of Optometry

Mr. Nitin Ojha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Optometry and a dedicated optometry professional with specialization in Dispensing Optics, Contact Lens Practice, Binocular Vision, and Low Vision Rehabilitation.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at T.S. Mishra University and is actively involved in academic teaching, clinical training, and student mentorship. He holds a Master’s degree in Optometry (M. Optom) with strong academic and clinical expertise in vision care sciences.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as the Associate Coordinator of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at the university level, demonstrating his commitment towards leadership, community service, and student engagement. With strong clinical, academic, and organizational skills, he continues to contribute significantly to optometric education and eye healthcare services.

Mr. Bal Mukund Tripathi is a dedicated Clinical Instructor and passionate Optometrist recognized for his work ethic and commitment toward excellence in eye care and education.

With strong clinical knowledge, effective communication skills, and a patient-centered approach, he has consistently demonstrated sincerity and responsibility in both academic and clinical environments.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Optometry (B. Optom) with strong academic and clinical expertise in vision care and completed his internship from Indira Gandhi Eye Hospital and Research Centre.
