Introduction of Department

The Department of Physiotherapy is a progressive center of academic excellence dedicated to advancing education, clinical practice, research, and rehabilitation sciences. The department is committed to developing competent, ethical, and skilled physiotherapy professionals through a balanced integration of strong theoretical knowledge and extensive clinical training, preparing students to meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare and rehabilitation.

Equipped with advanced laboratories, experienced faculty, and a patient-centered teaching approach, the department emphasizes evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and holistic rehabilitation. Students receive comprehensive clinical exposure across diverse specialties, including musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, geriatric, obstetrics and gynecology, and community-based physiotherapy, ensuring broad-based professional competence.

05-years program (04+01 year of compulsory internship /Laboratory rotation). 40 A candidate seeking admission to the Bachelors of Physiotherapy (BPT) program should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent conducted by Boards/Councils established by State Government/ Central Government with minimum 50% in aggregate of physics, chemistry and biology (botany & zoology). 05 % relaxation will be given to reserve category candidates. Also, the candidate should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Diploma in Physiotherapy
2 years 60 A candidate seeking admission to the Diploma in Physiotherapy program should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent conducted by Boards/Councils established by State Government/ Central Government with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics (PCB/PCM) and English as subjects. A 35% marks in Intermediate examinations (from UP Board or any other recognized board). Also, the candidate should have completed 17 years of age, as on 31st December of the year of admission. No maximum age limit for admission.

Electrotherapy Lab Equipped with advanced electrotherapy modalities such as ultrasound therapy, TENS, IFT, shortwave diathermy, laser therapy, and muscle stimulators for practical clinical training and patient rehabilitation.
Exercise Therapy Lab Spacious and well-equipped laboratory with exercise rehabilitation tools, posture correction equipment, parallel bars, balance trainers, mobility aids, and therapeutic exercise systems for functional rehabilitation training.
Anatomy Lab Modern anatomy laboratory with human models, charts, cadaveric specimens, skeleton systems, and audio-visual teaching aids to strengthen the understanding of human anatomy and biomechanics.

Dr. Barkha Bhatt (PT) is an experienced physiotherapy professional with over two decades of combined clinical and academic expertise. She is currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physiotherapy at T.S. Mishra University, where she leads academic planning, faculty mentoring, and program development. She holds a Master’s in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (MPT) and a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (BPT) from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and is presently pursuing her Ph.D. Her professional journey includes academic and clinical roles at reputed institutions and hospitals in Lucknow, Chandrapur, and Nagpur. Dr. Bhatt specializes in ICU care, cardiac rehabilitation, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has also received advanced training in Myofascial Release, Spine Mobilization, Yoga, and therapeutic exercise programs. Along with her clinical expertise, she actively contributes to student mentoring, research guidance, and institutional development initiatives aligned with quality healthcare education and NAAC standards.

Dr. Nousheen Jahan is serving as an Assistant Professor and Senior Consultant Physiotherapist at T.S. Misra Medical College & Hospital, Lucknow. She holds a Master’s degree in Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy from Integral University, Lucknow. She has academic and clinical experience in ICU management, cardiopulmonary, neurological, and post-operative rehabilitation, as well as orthopedic rehabilitation including TKR and THR cases. Since July 2022, she has been actively involved in clinical practice, departmental administration, and student training. Dr. Jahan has also worked as a Consultant Physiotherapist at Altis Hospital, Lucknow, and received extensive clinical training at Sahara Hospital, Lucknow, across multiple specialties and ICUs. She is dedicated to practical, student-centered learning and clinical skill development in physiotherapy.

He has over 2.5 years of corporate experience as a Clinical Investigator at Optum, Gurgaon, along with clinical training at Jaya Hospital, Gorakhpur, and Surya Hospital, Lucknow. His expertise includes cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, respiratory rehabilitation, and research on Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) in COPD patients using Threshold devices. Dr. Shahid is committed to innovative physiotherapy education through ICT-based teaching methods and actively contributes to academic communication, anchoring, and social media outreach at T.S. She holds an MPT in Neurological Physiotherapy and a BPT from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Dr. Shukla combines academic and clinical experience—including roles at ITM University, Gwalior (Oct 2024–Aug 2025), clinical postings at CSJMU OPD, The Panacea Hospital, Fortune Multi-specialty Hospital, Dr. Gurjar Hospital (Kanpur), and an internship at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. Dr. Chandni (PT) is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at TS Mishra University. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, followed by clinical internship training at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, where she gained strong clinical skills, patient management abilities, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation experience. She further completed her Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Neurology from Mewar University, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Her areas of interest include neurological rehabilitation, research, and academics.
